Sortin' out my future lebensraum.

So many goddamn blogs. I'm terribly sorry for spamming you guys, but now that this blog is here I must update it every time I feel the need.

So I've been thinking (and I'll keep this ASAP- As Short As Possible) about life after high school. I've considered degrees in History, some kind of Tourism thing, and most recently, Business and Marketing. I've been looking around Google, and I found that Victoria, down in Wellington, does some very good marketing courses. They run for around 3 years, and once you're done you'll be in demand all over the world. Wouldn't that be awesome? I could move to America or England or somewhere crazy like Russia!

Another bonus is that I love Wellington as a city. Last year I went down there three times (once in April for the Armageddon Expo, once in Term 2 for French and once again at some point for Economics). Each time I was struck by the shiny-ness of Lambton Quay, the flash housing, the trees, the sea, the flowers... I want to live there so bad.

Here are some links I picked up:

- Accommodation Service: http://www.victoria.ac.nz/st_services/accommodation/index.aspx
- Sample Budgets: http://www.victoria.ac.nz/st_services/finadvice/surviving/budgets.aspx#weekly
- Details about a Marketing course: http://www.victoria.ac.nz/home/study/subjects/offered/mark.aspx

This is my last year of school, so this is when I really need to think about this stuff. Hopefully sometime this year I can go to an open day at Victoria, and maybe one in Christchurch (Canterbury or Lincoln) as backup.

And here's another thing I want to keep track of; the book I read this year. Last year I didn't read anywhere near as much as I used to.
These are my conquests so far:

- The Dead Zone by Stephen King
- A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess
- Under The Dome by Stephen King.

This morning I started reading Perfume, by Patrick Suskund. Also lined up to read I have:

- The Stand by Stephen King
- The Cider House Rules by John Irving
- The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

Over and out (again!) :)

P.S. Lebensraum is the German word for living space :D I know this thanks to Lvl 1 History :P

If my eyes could take pictures

The world is beautiful. People with the power to capture that are also beautiful. I wish I could. I wish I has tiny little cameras in my eyes, so that whenever I saw something that I knew an ordinary camera wouldn't do the same for as my eyes, I'd mentally go *snap!*.

If I were better at drawing maybe I could capture this beauty in a different way. That's why I plan to draw more, every few days, if I can. I have lots of paints (gouache, water colour and acrylic), I have charcoal, coloured pencils, dry pastels, sketch pencils... It's just, I see pictures like this:

and I wish so, so badly that I could do that. Even half that well...

So I'm going to practice. I have the materials, now I just need to teach myself how to use them properly.

Au revoir, readers :) xx

Like a parent before a wedding

She has given her blessing.

I am happy. Hopefully things can stay this way :)

Seriously? Seriously.

Am I really writing another one of these? Really?

Yes. Yes I am. I'm just thinking, maybe it can work. Never mind what she said, this isn't her problem, or a possibility for her future, it's mine. Not hers, MINE. Why did I let myself be convinced? Can it really be so much of a problem for me to do what I want?

You know what I say? Fuck it. Fuck her decisions. Fuck her choices, because they're not her choices, they're mine.

EDIT: As I was writing this, I found out that there is now no problem. At least, a much smaller problem. If this works out, I will be very, very happy.

Waiting on the world to change.

John Mayer. He's pretty cool.

I thought that today I'd try blogging about something different.

So yesterday I went to sign in at the school library. I was greeted my Mrs Jeffries, my teacher for Geography this year. She's a cool person, but each day she comes to school looking like she's wearing her upholstery. Yesterday it was a flowery denim number. Very in fashion.

So, she sent me off to wait in line to the right, where I was for about 15 minutes before Mrs L. (her son died a few years ago, and everyone knows, but I cannot for the life of me remember her name) called me up. I had a subject missing from my timetable (which some useless douche must have stuffed up, because I definitely put five classes down). We sorted it out and I was sent on my way (once PJ- my french teacher from Year 9- was distracted from his mumbling and was able to talk to her). My subjects for this year are as follows:

- English A (*crosses fingers for Mr Byrne*)
- History (*crosses fingers for Mr Patinson*)
- Tourism (*crosses fingers for ANYONE BUT Mrs Berg*)
- Geography
- Classical Studies

I'm so glad I ditched French and Economics. They're the things that really pulled me down last year. I could have done so much better without them.

My sixth period class is a one hour study period, which we get everyday. It's pretty awesome, because on the Tuesdays we start an hour later (every fortnight) I'll only have three hours of classes :D

So that's all from me for now. Au revoir :)

Oh, and P.S. Listen to Waiting On The World To Change- John Mayer.

Shut up brain. Go back to your knitting.

It wont work.

No, it will.

Shut up. It wont.

You shut up.

No you shut up.

Oh real mature.

...

This isn't going anywhere.

No.

We're not going anywhere.

No.

Well fuck.

Yep.

Life, The Universe and Everything.

Is there a greater purpose? What are we actually HERE for?
This is something that I give a moderate amount of thought. Thanks to Douglas Adams, actually. He was a genius, you know. And not just a self proclaimed one, a real one. Probably the kind that gets into MENSA, like my Uncle.

So why? What is the point? What happens, exactly?

Well.
1. We are born. We emerge from our mothers (or fathers... advance in technology and all that shit), screaming, covered in blood and goo and whatnot. This stage of coming into being is tricky; some don't make it at all. Those that do, however, are in for what can basically be called a shit-storm. Life. Whatever.
2. We live. There's a lot of shit in between stages one and three. It's really not worth going into all that much, because we all know what happens. There is toddlerdom; happy, carefree, maybe a scrape or two. Then there's the beginning of school; painting, learning to write etc. Then maybe, you know, the teenage stage; lots of shit goes down in this period of life. Maybe your parents break up, you lose your virginity to someone you barely know, you get drunk, do drugs, get sick, and worry. Worry worry worry. After this is whatever comes after. It depends who you are. Which job? Which man/woman? How many kids? A dog? Or a cat? A house? Travel?
3. Death. It's pretty final. There's nothing to it. Just a slight whip! out of existence that most people wont even notice. In seconds there'll be a dozen other people born in this time of death, more people to take your place, to do exactly what you did.

When you think about it, it's all kinda pointless, but the majority of us do it anyway.

If you're thinking, "oh god, she's going to kill herself", don't. I'm not suicidal, nor am I an "emo", I just think about things, which is something more of you should be doing.

So the meaning? I don't have one.

All I know is that whoever invented something as pointless as life should be shot.

Au revoir :<
